How To Choose A Digital Camera

There are many, many digital cameras available in today’s market and seemingly more appearing monthly so which digital camera is the right camera for you?

Firstly set yourself a budget, it is going to help determine your choice of camera and target the appropriate models. Then you won’t spend time investigating models that are beyond your budget.

It’s important to consider what you want to take photographs of. This may seem obvious but nothing is more disappointing than spending good money and find it doesn’t live up to your expectations. Do you want a camera that slips into your pocket and take casual photographs of holidays, family and friends or do you want to be more creative and develop photography as a hobby? If it is the former then there are many Compact Cameras with increasing pixel resolution and quality performance. If you want flexibility of zooming in to make your subject look bigger then opt for Optical zoom, not digital.

If you are looking to develop your photography more seriously as a hobby taking

Photographs of Landscapes, Sports, Portraits or other similar subjects then there are two types of cameras; Bridge cameras and SLR cameras. Bridge Cameras offer good built in optical zoom lenses, many megapixels, built in flash, easy of use operation but with the option of being creative with many manual operation modes. Digital Single Lens Reflex or Digital SLR cameras have moved into wider usage with their lower price tag and high performance. As the choice of professionals SLR cameras offer great flexibility with high performance both in picture quality and speed. Their interchangeable lenses mean you can capture just about anything whether it be close or far away.

Another consideration is that you’ve taken some great shots, now how do you want to view them? The number of pixels will determine what size photo you can print out, so do you want to print on 6 x 4 paper or larger?

There’s one main additional area to think about, that of accessories. When you’re buying you camera then you may need to factor these into your budget. Things to consider are Batteries, Memory cards, a bag and maybe even a tripod.

So what next? Start researching. The web is a mine of useful information, so are magazines. From your key needs for using the camera try to identify two or three possible models that you may want to purchase. I would then recommend visiting local stores to try them, even if you’re likely to purchase on the web. There’s nothing better than getting the camera in you hands to see if you find it easy to use, check it’s not too big or small, etc. If you pick a dedicated camera store then you may well find a sales person who knows the cameras well so ask their advice as well.

When you’ve made your choice then it’s a matter of cost. Web prices are always keen as are large retailers but don’t be afraid to ask your local camera specialist if they will match prices,

Now, go out and enjoy using your camera!

Whatever its complexity there’s probably more creative and interesting photos you can take with it and more you can learn.

How to Find Quality Cameras and Lenses Online

Shopping online for a camera is the best way to locate detailed descriptions of all the camera and lens options available. Then you will be able to make your choices based on these descriptions. Whether you are an amateur or professional photographer, there are many places on the Web to look for the camera you want.

What Camera Do You Need?

First of all, you must decide what type of camera will meet your needs. You may only need a simple point and shoot for family photos. These cameras will be less expensive and uncomplicated to operate. You can get automatic actions such as zoom and flash or automatic advancement in 35mm cameras. They are usually compact and simple to use, which makes it easy for anyone to take pictures.

However, there are limitations with those cameras in the control of exposure and focusing. For someone who is more involved in amateur photography, added manual control may be beneficial. One of the biggest advantages is the ability to change lenses to get a better zoom picture. Sporting events and vacation photos will be more pleasing to look at when taken with the right types of lenses.

The serious and professional photographers will want the best cameras with the features that suit their needs. This would include manual focus to give the clearest and sharpest pictures. Also, there are several different size lenses to get a good picture from a greater distance.

Different Camera Styles

There are basically four different kinds of cameras to choose from. The first, usually cheapest and easiest to handle, is the point and shoot. The second is the 35mm SLR that allows more variety in lenses and focus. The third is the Medium Format, which is larger and gives a larger negative to work with. It is completely manual but supplies a high-quality photograph. The fourth is the Large Format camera used by the professionals. It is larger and harder to use but provides stunning photographs from the larger size prints.

Shop Online for Cameras and Lenses

When you have decided the type of camera you need, you are ready to shop online. To get started, you simply type in your key words on a search engine. Once you know what you are looking for the task will be much simpler. There are many sites that offer cameras at wholesale or discount prices. They usually offer all the well-known brands such as Leica, Minolta, Canon, Horizon, Contax, Olympus, Mamiya, Nikon, Hasselblad, Pentax, and Noblex.

Some sites sell used products that have been gently used or refurbished. Purchasing these cameras would save you some money and will usually still come with a warranty. There are sites with online catalogs where you can look for the brand or style you want. They also provide search features so you can shop by key word or brand name.

Compare Before Buying

It is a good idea to shop around and compare prices and shipping costs before buying a camera. Remember to include the shipping costs when calculating the total price of a camera or lenses. Don’t buy a camera at a discount price just because it is a good deal. To be sure you are satisfied with your purchase, look for the key features and quality you want. Buy a camera based on your needs and you’ll enjoy taking fabulous photographs with it for years to come!

Top 3 Ways to Buy Digital Prints Online

While it may seem strange that you can save money by shopping online considering your have to pay extra for shipping, in the case of digital pictures, it’s true. Buying pictures online is a unique situation because online printers are facing such stiff competition that they are all discounting prices and offering discounts on shipping that it benefits you more than you would imagine!

Since you’re obviously interested in having your pictures printed online, you’re almost ready to start saving money.

Here are my top 3 ways to buy digital prints of your pictures online, all based on my personal experience.

1. Find a coupon or ad.

If you don’t have one, find a coupon or advertisement that lists what you can get free from a particular printer. Many times these ads come in the form of banners or pictures that rotate text saying something like, “12 Cent Pictures, 99 Cent Shipping, Printed and Shipped Today!” Normally I wouldn’t recommend clicking ads like this, these can actually save you money. The online printing company can see that you clicked that ad and they’ll send you to the page that has the special offer.

2. Use recommendations.

If you can find a website that recommends a certain online photo printer, check that out. It is better to have a recommendation (even if you don’t know the person who recommends them) than just searching and buying from the company with the best website.

3. Don’t overpay.

You should never pay more than about 12-14 cents per picture. That is the average daily price. You might be able to get something like 20-30 free prints from a company, but the daily regular price should be in the twelve to fourteen cent range.

Using those 3 tips I’ve bought more than 500 digital pictures online and couldn’t be happier to be saving money!

If you’re looking for a great company to buy your digital pictures from, I would recommend Snapfish. They’re pictures are crisp and the quality is great.

Sell Your Camera and Buy a New Digital Camera

If you don’t own a digital camera buy a digital camera now and throw the old camera for film out – or – better, try to sell it for the little money you might be able to get for it in time.

Digital cameras are becoming completely dominating the scene of photography - for good reasons. A digital camera is much cheaper to run because you don’t have expenses for buying film and development. You just have to pay for prints, whatever you are printing with your own photo printer or go to a photo shop or photo mail service.

Buy a good digital camera but not a digital camera that are too complicated or too high priced because the development of new digital cameras goes very fast. For every year you will get a better digital camera for less money.

I can hear you ask: Why then buy the camera now? Why not wait for another year for a better digital camera with more features and better performance?

My answer is, and I am sure other professionals will join me when I answer, that the medium priced digital cameras are already of a quality and standard that are more than enough for the serious general photographer. The medium priced digital cameras are offering a picture quality that matches the professional digital cameras for a few years ago for a tenth of the price or less.

The file size is determined partly by the number of pixels produced by the photo sensitive chip in the digital camera. 5 so-called Mega pixels will do well for most family use. Many good digital cameras of even medium price offer much more than that. You can find reviews of some of the best digital cameras at dpreview.com

One of the most versatile aspects of the digital camera is the ability to show the new picture just after it is taken. In that way you are always in command of what you get, as it costs you nothing to take a new picture with a digital camera. Yes, in fact you can take 100 digital pictures with your new camera and delete the 99 picture files and just keep one - hopefully a super good digital picture.

The digital camera uses a memory card to keep the digital files. There are different sizes and types. The so-called compact flash card (CF card) is very common. A CF card of 1 GB (gigabyte) will hold many hundreds of digital pictures, depending on the file size you are using. You can choose between having one very big flash card or a few of lesser size.

Personally I like to have a number of flash cards (I have to use CF cards for my Canon digital cameras) as I feel I am distributing the risk if something goes wrong with a card.

Reality is that flash cards are much more robust than old-fashioned fill rolls. But the flash cards are also tiny and I am afraid of dropping the card.

Jump to your camera dealer in the street or find an online-camera dealer and order a nice digital camera for your photographic enjoyment the next years.

How to Sell Dog Pictures Online

Dogs are great animals. Everybody’s got to love dogs and taking pictures of them. But did you realize that you could sell dog pictures online and actually make money doing it? If you have a dog and have a digital camera why aren’t you making money taking pictures of your dog!

You may be wondering how you can sell dog pictures online and the answer is through micro stock photo websites. These are websites where they let anybody submit photos and earn money from them. Of course, your photo must be accepted and be good quality. But once it’s in the website then anybody can download it and for each download you make some cash.

Many people on the internet need photographs of dogs for their websites, advertisements, etc. You can submit a photo of a dog and have it end up on a website some day! Or it could even end up in advertisements in magazines. People use these stock photos because they don’t have the time or skills to go out and take quality photos for whatever they are doing.

Picture Quality

You must have photos that are of good enough quality. There’s no need to go out and pay money for some photography school or get your bachelors in photography but if you know how to take better photos your photos will be much more highly desired.

As with posing models, dogs must be posed properly. You must make sure that your dog is authentic looking and relaxed. The lighting also must be good quality. Unless you have a big studio, shooting outdoors with the sunlight is the best option. Don’t shoot at 12 PM because the sun will be directly overhead making bad lighting. Try early in the morning or later I the afternoon.

Taking one single picture of your dog can make you a little bit of money but you will want to take more than one. Try to get photos of all your dogs and even the neighbor dogs. Build a dog photo collection of all the dogs from your friends and family. Ask them for the rights to the photos and in return you’ll give them copies of the photos you take. Making money selling dog pictures online is real and many people are doing it earning lots of money already.
